The 2W Lake Bed and Breakfast is located on the corner of Skaneateles, New York's main street. The property is right across the street from the village park and the lake, which many guests have enjoyed visiting while staying here. The bed and breakfast has two floors. The owner, Clark Maher, cooks breakfast for each of the guests staying at the 2W Lake Bed and Breakfast. Visitors may request specific meals or let Clark know of any dietary restrictions for their customized breakfast. Mark traveled around much of Europe and Asia for his job, so he has a great appreciation for food. His breakfasts will often include Fratadas made with various ingredients, including tomato, spinach, herbs, and cheese. French toast with chicken, apple, sausage, and eggs is also one of his specialties. Each meal includes homemade maple syrup, fresh fruit, toast, coffee, juice, and tea. Small keepsakes such as ornaments and beanies can be purchased at the bed and breakfast for visitors to take home with them. Many high-end specialty shops and restaurants are just a few minutes drive from home, along with multiple wine trails and vineyards. Free off-street parking is available for all visitors, along with WiFi.
2W Lake Bed and Breakfast is located in a very historical area of Skaneateles, New York. The area is very affluent with lots of variety when it comes to culture and people. It is referred to as an escape, such as The Hamptons. The village is very well maintained with pleasant locals who work to preserve the authenticity of the town. Even though the town is very close to Syracuse, it is still very small, with a population of just under seven thousand people. Skaneateles is a popular area for those from big cities such as New York to keep vacation homes along the lake, therefore making the summer and holiday months much busier. The community is very artistic, with many local artists who showcase much of their art throughout the 2W Lake Bed and Breakfast and other homes throughout the community. John Barrow, a famous artist's childhood home, is located just down the street from the bed and breakfast.
The convenient location and original architecture a large draw to the area and property. One of the visitors to the property said that "my wife and I ventured for our very first bed and breakfast experience for our fifteenth anniversary. We came across 2W Lake and its glowing reviews. From the moment we entered, we were warmly welcomed by the owner Clark. He did everything to make us feel at home, from giving us restaurant recommendations to places to visit and enjoy. Clark became like an old friend on the first day. His ease of conversation, the cleanliness of the entire Bed and Breakfast, to the unbelievable homemade breakfast will leave any guest excited for their stay at 2W Lake." The property also receives positive reviews regarding the home's original architecture and contemporary flair.
Clark Maher purchased 2W Lake Bed and Breakfast in 2019. The home was originally built and commissioned by a woman in 1899, during the time of the women's movement. The property has been passed down from owner to owner as a home and lodge. Clark Maher worked for thirty-five years as a fashion designer in New York City. He worked for many high-end brands and often traveled through Europe and Asia. Clark was well-known throughout the fashion industry for his attention to detail and customer service. After some significant changes happened in Clark's life, he decided to retire from the fashion industry and opened the 2W Lake Bed and Breakfast. Mr. Maher spent his early years working with his parents in the hospitality business and always knew he wanted to pursue building a business in that industry. Clark grew up visiting his family who lived in Skaneateles and knew it was where he wanted to create his dream space. Since purchasing the property, he has dedicated countless hours, restoring the home's original charm and decorating the space.
