Some of the attractions within the vicinity of the establishment that may pique the interest of tourists are the local city events, nearby fishing and boating, Road America, and The American Club Resort, which Jess says is the only five-star and five-diamond resort in the Midwest. The three restaurants she would recommend to her visitors are Big Billy's Bar & Grill, Red Shorts Cafe, and PJ Campbells at the Depot.
According to Jess, one of the 52 Stafford Guest House owners, the hotel's goal is to make visitors feel like family. She and the rest of the staff intend to keep a "generous voice tone" with guests and try to accommodate their needs, namely activity arrangements or dietary requirements. Irish music sessions are hosted live each Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at the hotel, and visitors are welcome to participate as they watch local musicians perform. Jess also notes that the fireplace in the main dining room is lit on "appropriate" nights, contributing to the property's atmosphere. She further indicates that interactions between staff and guests are very frequent, saying, "it's all we do."
Jess believes that 52 Stafford Guest House's most unique aspects are its ranking as the longest-continuously operating hotel in Wisconsin and its all-female ownership. It is known as Wisconsin's longest-continuously operated hotel, as it has been in operation for over 130 years. Four Crowns Ltd.—operated by Jessica Bumbard-Kinch, Samantha Gardiners, and Emily Williams—currently owns it. Jess, one of the current owners, explains that Four Crowns Ltd. has been in ownership since October 2022. They acquired the hotel upon "an opportunity" from its previous owner, who Jess worked under for over a decade. She has worked in the hospitality industry since she was 14 years old and has since earned a culinary degree. According to 52 Stafford Guest House's website, Jess believes that "true hospitality comes from the heart—It is embracing a stranger as a neighbor at first meeting—It is generous, kind, warm, and fulfilling." Jess says her favorite part of her job is the community, describing it as "very warm and welcoming; comfortable and quaint, [with] lots to do."
52 Stafford Guest House has seen several renovations throughout its life. Since Four Crowns Ltd. began running the business, they have updated the kitchen, furnace system, and smoke detectors. Jess notes that they would like to further "modernize" the property, though she recognizes the hotel's status as a historic property on the National Register of Historic Places.
