Beachside Hotel

The Beachside Hotel, located in Daytona Beach, Florida, has 34 rooms that guests can stay in. All of the rooms are spread out across the five floors of the building. Patrons can access their room on the higher floors by using the elevator. Each room at the hotel is pet friendly, but there is a 20 pound and under limit for how large the animals can be. There is a pool on-site that those who stay at the property can use, and near the pool are beach chairs for those who would prefer to watch their children or other family members in the water. The property sits across the street from Daytona Beach, which can provide patrons with views of the beach and sunrises.

About

The Beachside Hotel is located on Daytona Beach, in Daytona Florida. The property sits on the Ponce Inlet which is a thin strip of land that is surrounded by water on three sides. Two of the sides are bordered by the Atlantic Ocean, and the third side separates the inlet by the Halifax River. The hotel has an outdoor pool that patrons of the establishment can use, as well as an outdoor pergola that includes chairs. At the pool, there is a handicap pool chair that the owners provide with the intention of giving everyone who stays at the hotel the opportunity to use the pool area. Direct beach access is available near the pergola and pool area. From the pool, guests can see the beach, and the manager reports that the sunsets are a big hit with those who stay at the establishment.

Inside the hotel are 34 rooms that guests can stay in. Each room has a full kitchen which includes a stove, fridge, microwave, and coffee machine. The coffee machine can grind coffee beans and make hot chocolate, espressos, and lattes. All of the 34 rooms have a private porch area that overlooks the beach and the ocean. The porches face the rising sun in the mornings. Each room is pet friendly for animals that are 20 pounds or less.

Culture

The Beachside Hotel has views of Daytona Beach, and the owners hope that those who stay at the property have the opportunity to relax and enjoy their time at the beach and in the city. The general manager says, "We are trying to create an atmosphere, not just a hotel room." With this goal in mind, the hotel offers options of having weddings in front of the beach under one of the gazebos that can be found on the grounds. There are also frequent training meetings with the staff and housekeepers to help them understand how they can help create an overall experience for the guests.

Those who stay at the Beachside Hotel frequently comment on the cleanliness of the rooms, amenities, and the views that the property offers. One guest said, "The owner is very nice and down to earth. Breakfast was great, better than just the regular continental breakfast. Every employee we encountered treated us with courtesy and respect." Patrons of the establishment generally comment on the closeness to the beach as a benefit of staying at the property. Many others comment on the pet-friendly nature of the hotel and the pool that is on-site. One particular visitor remarked, "Very clean rooms that were pet friendly. There is very accommodating and friendly staff. The location and view of the ocean side room were fantastic."

A large portion of the visitors to the hotel include families staying for the beach because of the full kitchen apartments that are available. Other patrons of the business include elderly visitors as well as couples on weekend vacations. People come to the area for Daytona Beach, but also for a variety of other activities in the area. There are surfing competitions, as well as biking competitions, speedway watching at the international speedway, and Oktoberfest in autumn. Many who are staying at the Beachside Hotel are traveling from out of the state, but there are also a fair amount of guests who come from other parts of Florida including Orlando, Deland, and Ocala. The property is open year-round and is generally fully booked from the beginning of March until the end of August.

In the area near the Beachside Hotel, there are multiple attractions and sights that guests can visit. Nearby is the Daytona International Speedway which is home to the Daytona 500. There is also the Halifax River and the Dunlawton Sugar Mill Gardens which is a botanical garden and has dinosaur sculptures. The gardens are on the ruins of a 19th-century plantation. Restaurants nearby that the manager recommends to guests include Aunt's Catfish on the Pier, Genovese's Italian Café, and Jimmy Hulas; a Cajun and seafood restaurant.

History

The Beachside Hotel has been in operation since its opening sometime in the 1990s. Initially, it was owned by the Daytona International Speedway. Eventually, however, they sold the business, and it passed through several different owners over the years. The current proprietors purchased the hotel in 2016. They are a business family and own various properties in the service industry, including restaurants, cinemas, lodging places, and more. Though their headquarters are currently located in Miami, Florida, they are in the process of moving over to Daytona Beach—where the Beachside Hotel is located.

An abundance of upgrades and renovations have been made to the Beachside Hotel since the current owners have run the establishment. New fridges, furniture, and bedding have been added to the guest accommodations, a new coffee machine has been installed in the main lobby and new management and employee teams have been formed and trained. Outside, the entire pool deck has been revamped. Additionally, a new doggie-park-relief area was added on the grounds in hopes to accommodate guests with pets.

Julia, the general manager, says they have plans to continually upgrade the property and to implement changes as they strive to accommodate their guests. She also mentions that many visitors have noticed these improvements, commenting on the difference between their current and previous visits.
