Bradford House

The Bradford House is a Victorian-style bed and breakfast that can be found in Branson, Missouri, a city near the edge of the border between Missouri and Arkansas. The three-story building has 15 individual units that guests can rent. The property has an outdoor pool located right next to the building. The property is not open during January or February, but they are available the rest of the year. In the past, they have opened up their rooms to guests on Valentine's Day. The city of Branson has an abundant amount of theatres that constantly put on shows. Amusement and theme parks can also be found north of the property for guests who want to spend time doing a few amusement park rides, miniature golf, or even jumping on trampolines.

About

There are a total of 15 rooms available for guests to rent at The Bradford House, with nine of them being on the second floor and six of them on the first floor. Each room is uniquely decorated, though they all resemble the same Victorian theme that the rest of the building has. Every living space comes with cable television, access to Wi-Fi, an iron with an ironing board, and a hairdryer. Though similar in amenities, they vary in size and other aspects like the number and size of windows and bed size. There are also several features that some rooms come with that others do not. For example, a few of them come with a jacuzzi tub, while some of them have a loveseat for extra seating. The owners recommend that guests take a close look at the list of available spaces and make a note of which amenities are found in each one. Guests also have access to the dining area and the common room to use at their leisure. The kitchen is open to them as well, where there are coffee kits, tea kits, and snacks that they can eat during the day.

Regardless of which room a guest chooses to rent, everyone who stays at The Bradford House can receive breakfast each morning. Breakfast starts at 8:00 in the morning and goes on until 9:30, though the owner, whose name is Bob, explains that they often have a couple of items like bagels and toast a little earlier than that for guests who need food a little bit earlier. Typically served at 8:00 are dishes like eggs, waffles, sausage, French toast, crepes, casseroles, and more. They will also have beverages, including coffee, tea, orange juice, and apple juice, with the food. Bob and his wife make a large number of various foods so that guests can pick and choose what they would like to eat that morning, and every day they do different types of dishes to allow guests to have a more significant amount of options. Due to the way breakfast is served at The Bradford House, they are capable of serving food that can be eaten by people who have various diet restrictions, such as vegetarian, vegan, or gluten-free diets. On a regular basis, breakfast is served to each guest individually so that guests can eat their meal by themselves, though they also have the option of sitting with the owners or other guests if they would like.

The outside of the property is landscaped and has a number of flower beds around the building. The staff and patrons note that sometimes wildlife can be seen throughout the wooded land around the property, including birds, squirrels, and deer. There is also a pool that guests may take advantage of during their stay.

There are a number of attractions that can be visited both within the city limits as well as beyond them. The city of Branson has the Branson Theatre District, where there are an abundant amount of shows and theatres. There are also a number of theme parks with varying activities. Bigfoot Fun Park is a family-oriented park that has a couple of amusement park rides, as well as an arcade, miniature golf course, and a tour of the area that gives information about the history of the land and Bigfoot. Near Bigfoot Fun Park is The Butterfly Palace and Rainforest Adventure, where visitors can see a wide range of butterflies, walk through the mirror maze, and learn about the animals in the science center. For guests who want to spend more time outdoors, they can visit Table Rock Lake, where they can do activities like fishing, kayaking, and more.

Bob also likes to recommend a number of restaurants to his guests. When asked, he tells guests about Danna's BBQ & Burger Shop. Danna's restaurant specializes in slow-cooked meats and burgers. Another restaurant he enjoys mentioning is called Mr. G's Chicago Pizza & Pub, a sports bar that serves a wide variety of pizzas and beers.

Culture

The owner, Bob, explains that the goal of The Bradford House is to create an atmosphere that is comfortable and relaxed. He wants guests to feel at home. To help guests feel this way when they first arrive, he and his wife, Christie, like to greet them at the door and interact with them for a bit while they help them get settled into their room. Bob mentions that they understand if guests want some personal space and are happy not to bother them if they have other things they want to be doing. Another thing they do in an attempt to help guests relax is putting on Christian music in the common room.

The Bradford House has several policies in place that guests should know about when they are reserving their stay. The bed and breakfast does not allow smoking inside any of the rooms. Another important policy they have is that pets are not permitted at The Bradford House, so guests should avoid bringing along their dogs if they would like to make reservations. The Bradford House is open between March and December, with January and February being their off-season. However, they may have rooms available for Valentine's Day in February.

The property has received an abundant amount of reviews. Many of them mention the breakfast that they had and the quality of the room. One person writes, "They were very courteous with very clean rooms. They were very accommodating with our daughter's birthday surprise. Breakfast was delicious." Another thing that gets mentioned is the atmosphere of the setting while guests were staying at the bed and breakfast. Someone else writes, "Absolutely gorgeous, rooms and home are very well kept, the owners are very sweet and great cooks. My husband and I spent our anniversary here. Great atmosphere, nice quiet, quaint place." The typical demographic of patrons that come to The Bradford House tends to be couples, and they see a wide variety of ages with no prevalent trend to specifically older or younger people.

History

Bob and Christie have been innkeepers for a total of 27 years. The Bradford House has been open for about 18 years, with its first opening day occurring sometime in 2003. This is actually the second bed and breakfast that they currently own. Interestingly, Bob and Christie are both the second owners and the fourth owners of The Bradford House, taking a break from the establishment in between. Bob says he has been in the lodging industry for a while because his parents are in the same profession. They have owned several other places in the past, and he grew up in that atmosphere. Bob explains that the best part of the job, in his opinion, is being able to meet the people that come to stay at The Bradford House.

The building was designed from the start to be a part of the hospitality industry as a bed and breakfast, although over time, there have been a number of improvements made to make The Bradford House a better experience for those who visit. Over the last few years, Bob has remodeled a number of the rooms, upgraded several of the amenities, purchased new furniture, and added new antiques to the interior. There are plans to spend more time outside working on the landscaping and improving the exterior in the near future.
