About

Bunk House Inn at Zion offers two units for reservation to the public. Megan, one of the business owners, describes them as "cozy and comfy." The living room and the back porch are available for guests to use at their leisure. Patrons can find a television in the living room, and both common areas offer sitting areas.

The two units—The Southwest Room and The Country Room—both have queen-sized beds and access to Wi-Fi. According to Megan, The Southwest Room tends to be more popular due to the fact that it has a kitchenette. Megan also mentions that "people staying in The Country Room are allowed to use the kitchenette if The Southwest Room is not occupied."

The owners describe the outdoors of the property as "ranch-styled." An organic orchard in the backyard grows almonds, apricots, cherries, apples, plums, peaches, and more. Visitors are allowed to walk through the orchard if they would like.

Beyond the property line are several places of interest, with one of the more significant draws to the area being Zion National Park. The park has a canyon and a considerable amount of land where people can go hiking, rock climbing, horseback riding, and other outdoor recreational activities. Another place that may interest visitors is Grafton, a ghost town located west of Rockville. Other state or national parks in the area include Bryce Canyon National Park, which is about two hours away by car, and Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park, which is found east of the property, about an hour and 15 minutes away by car. Megan and Bob also enjoy telling patrons about some of the restaurants in the area. A few that they list by name are Bit & Spur Restaurant & Saloon, Oscar's Café, and Café Soleil.

Culture

The owners, Megan and Bob, want their patrons to feel "like they are staying at home" and are comfortable. Bob and Megan interact with guests as much as the visitors would prefer. Megan explains, "Some people just arrive and leave really quick, but others like to talk, and we enjoy visiting with them."
Bunk House Inn at Zion does not typically host any events on the grounds, as it is primarily used for overnight stays for people that are visiting the area. The business is pet-friendly and allows people to bring their pets with them into the unit. Small or medium dogs are welcome, but people with large ones should check with the owners ahead of time. Another unique aspect of the establishment is that they strive to recycle and be eco-friendly. Solar panels have been installed on the roof of the building, and many products that are found in the house are made of recycled material. The owners encourage their patrons to recycle their garbage, which they help guests do by providing bins for such in the rooms.

Many visitors have left reviews of their experiences at Bunk House Inn at Zion, a few of which mention things like the inn's atmosphere and location. One person wrote, "The Bunk House at the Zion Inn in Rockville is close to Zion National Park and close access to good restaurants in Springdale, 2 miles up the road. The house was lovely, and the hosts were kind and generous, offering suggestions for hikes or places to eat. The room was comfortable, with all the necessities available. Located in a quiet neighborhood, and the orchard in the back yard was beautiful." The typical demographic of patrons tends to be couples between the age of 20 and 70 years old. Megan reports that the busiest months of operation tend to be May, September, and October. She mentions that one unique aspect of the business is the location and how close they are to Zion National Park, saying, they are "ten minutes away by car from the national park, which is four miles away."

History

Bunk House Inn at Zion first opened in 1994. The current owners of the business are Megan and Bob. According to Megan, the building has been around since the 1930s. The original house consisted of the living room and the basement, and the couple who built it raised eight children in the home. In the 1950s, the two rooms that are currently used as guest rooms were added, and in the 1980s, renovations were made to update the house, it then became an inn in 1994. The current owners implemented additional renovations in 2006 as well.

Megan and Bob explain that they had created several businesses in the past, but after some time, they decided to open the inn because they "are on the road to Zion National Park." Their favorite aspect of the job is meeting all of the people that come to visit. According to Megan, "There have been people from all over the world that have come to stay at the establishment."
