The Erie-O Motel & Marina is located in Ontario, Canada, in the city of Erieau. A total of ten rooms are available between the two buildings, and each room generally has similar amenities. Outside of the units, patrons can participate in various activities at the establishment. Activities involving water may generally be more common due to the property having direct access to Rhondeau Bay. Paul Renaud and Bridget Chippett are the current owners of Erie-O Motel & Marina and have been running the property since before 2020. Paul says they hope their visitors can "relax" during their stay. One of the owners also says that "there are enough things here to keep anybody entertained." People can additionally swim at Lake Erie or visit nearby restaurants.
Located in the city of Erieau in Ontario, Canada is the Erie-O Motel & Marina. Potential visitors can choose from 10 rooms to reserve among two buildings. Seven rooms are in the motel building, while the other three are in a cottage at the back of the premises. Amenities are generally standard between each room in the motel and the cottage, however, some rooms feature additional arrangements. Each unit comes with a 50-inch smart TV and a controllable HVAC system. Some rooms are also equipped with private bathrooms that have walk-in showers. Paul Renaud, one of the owners, says that eight of the ten rooms come with a "fully equipped" kitchen, while the other two rooms have a mini fridge. According to the property's official website, double beds are one of the common sizes found in each room.
Erie-O Motel & Marina also has additional features and amenities for patrons outside their rooms. Paul says the home is near the edge of Rondeau Bay on around one acre of land. Visitors can use the indoor laundry facilities near the cottage. Moreover, attached to the side of the motel is a two-story enclosed deck-like area that guests can utilize as a common area. Firepits can also be found at the front and back sections of the grounds. The property has a marina where people can store their boats during their stay. Use of the marina is not included with the cost of reservation; however, guests can utilize the marina's facilities for an extra fee. According to Paul, the marina is the only amenity that patrons have to pay extra to use; every other amenity is included in the base price of the reservation.
During their stay, guests can participate in different activities on the grounds of the Erie-O Motel & Marina. Paul says that "there are enough things here to keep anybody entertained," referring to the pastimes that the property offers. Some of the activities that previous guests have done during their stay have involved Rondeau Bay due to the motel providing direct access. Paul adds that he believes the water of Rhondeau Bay is transparent. The grounds also have an area alongside the bay where patrons can go swimming. Additionally, management has items such as paddle boards and kayaks that can be used by guests free of charge. If a visitor enjoys fishing, Paul says that guests can fish on the Rhondeau Bay, with potential catches including pike, bass, and crappie. However, concerning fishing, there is no equipment available to be leased from the motel, so people must bring their own tackle and bait.
Paul says the motel operates year-round. However, some of the rooms' availabilities may be changed during winter to only offer monthly stays. When summer starts in the area, the property's management institutes a minimum stay for any unit reserved in the cottage, typically requiring a week-long reservation. During the summer, the motel has a two-night minimum requirement. Potential visitors may want to know that the home has a first come, first serve policy for those trying to reserve a room. Additionally, Paul says that every Saturday, they host bands who may perform at the front of the house or on the waterfront. Furthermore, people visit a number of attractions outside the Erie-O Motel & Marina. One of these places is Lake Erie which Paul says is around 1,000 meters away and can be seen from the property. If a person wants to go out to eat, Paul offers some recommendations, including but not limited to Molly and OJ's, Bayside Brewery, and the Galley.
Paul remarks that he seeks to help everyone coming to stay at the Erie-O Motel & Marina feel "relaxed." To help create this culture, Paul says that his management strives to be accommodating and listen to each of their patrons. One of the motel's owners lives on the property and may be available during most parts of the day. Another way management works to help foster its culture is by enforcing policies and rules they would like each of their patrons to follow. Smoking is not allowed in the motel or the cottage and must be done outside. It should also be noted that three of the rooms are pet-friendly.
Paul says that previous guests have commented on the "fun, casual, and clean environment" that the motel has, while some additional comments have been made about the property's dog, a German shorthair pointer named Scout. After staying at the establishment, some guests left reviews regarding various aspects of the business. One review says, "The motel has a small-town charm and is right on the water. The owners are amazing and welcoming and give you the best experience right from the start. They have a beautiful dog, Scout, who is there to greet you every day." Another past patron said, "The motel is right on the water. The owner is very accommodating. There is a relaxed atmosphere and beautiful scenery. There was easy access to boating and restaurants."
The current property owners, Paul Renaud and Bridget Chippett, have been running the business since before 2020. Paul and Bridget had previously stayed at the establishment before owning it and, during one of their visits, found out that the owner was planning on selling the motel. Paul says that he felt it would be a really good idea to buy the business, so he did. After taking over the Erie-O Motel & Marina and throughout Paul and Bridgett's ownership, they have made some renovations. Paul says regarding their updates, they "touched every surface of the property." Bathrooms in each unit were redone, and the marina was reworked as well. In the future, Paul mentions that he hopes to remodel the front of the house so it can operate as a stage. Additionally, they hope to add another cottage to the premises and a bigger common area. According to Paul, his favorite aspects about owning the Erie-O Motel & Marina are his interactions with the people staying there and "families coming together." Paul also says that "we have a quality product, and we want to share it."
Concerning the property's history, Paul says the Brown family built the home. The establishment began operating in the lodging industry around 1963. Since its construction, ownership has changed at various times.
