Hotel Villa Convento is located in New Orleans, Louisiana. Though the building itself is over 200 years old, the Hotel Villa Convento has been serving guests as a hotel since the 1970s, which was the year it was first turned into a hotel. The building is four stories tall and has a total of 25 rooms available for guests to choose. New Orleans is known for celebrating Mardi Gras, which is an event that takes place at the beginning of March and goes on until Ash Wednesday, about two weeks from the day it starts, and the hotel is placed in a convenient location for those who want to experience it.
Hotel Villa Convento is a historic four-leveled brick building that supplies 25 separate rooms for patrons, each differing from each other. The building is found near the Mississippi River, which is located about two blocks from the property. Across the street from the property resides a local bakery and park, as well as two residential areas located on either sides of the building.
A courtyard can be found on the side of the hotel, with various rooms set to face that area. These rooms range from specific floor plans, those including Suites, Balcony Rooms, Loft Rooms, Queen Rooms, Multi-Bed Rooms, and Budget Rooms. The Balcony King floor plan features a king-sized bed for guests to sleep on. A private balcony overlooks Ursuline Street, which is seen as "picturesque" by locals. A private bathroom comes with the floor plan, as well as a TV for entertainment and media services. The Balcony Queen floor plan includes a queen-sized bed for guests, along with a similar balcony as the Balcony King floor plan. Placed on a wooden mantle headboard and frame, the bedding provides sleeping arrangements for up to two guests. A private bathroom can be found in the Balcony Queen floor plans, similar to the Balcony King. Amenities for both plans include shower/tub combo, toilet, toiletries, and hair dryers.
The Budget Queen room offers cheaper pricing for patrons, providing a queen bed along with its own private bathroom. These rooms are located in the carriageway of the building. Situated with a view of the courtyard, the Courtyard Queen floor plan promotes various windows that overlook the courtyard located on the property of Hotel Villa Convento. Another courtyard view comes with the Courtyard Queen & Double, which supplies both a queen-sized bed and a double for additional guests. Like the Courtyard Queen, views of the property's courtyard are accessible through various windows stationed in the space. On the third floor, the Loft King and 2 Twins floor plans are positioned.
These floor plans are split-level, with a king bed and a full bath located on the first level. Stairs lead to the additional level leading to a private loft with three-twin-sized beds. This floor plan supplies arrangements for families or larger gatherings. The Queen and Twin floor plan is located on the main building and offers a queen bed and twin for guests. Lastly, located on the fourth floor of the building, the Suite King Balcony floor plan comes equipped with a king bed, a sitting room with an additional bed, and similar amenities as the other floor plans. Views of the river and Vieux Carre are seen from the rooms, with the Vieux Carre referring to the French historical neighborhood found in New Orleans, Louisiana.

New Orleans, the city the hotel is located in, is stated as being "a city that welcomes everyone with open arms," providing "vast amounts of activities, ranging from Mardi Gras to the Audubon Zoo." New Orleans sits as the most populous city in Louisiana and is known for its festivities and celebrations. Among these festivities is Mardi Gras, a two-week celebration that includes various parades and events. It is well known for having items thrown into crowds during the parades, with those items including strings of colorful beads, doubloons, and more. The historic section of New Orleans, the French Quarter, is where the Hotel Villa Convento is located. Buildings throughout the French Quarter date back to the 18th century, with some being built in the first half of the 19th century. Various activities, including daylong activities, can be found in the French Quarter and the entire city of New Orleans.
Hotel Villa Convento was built near the year 1833, with the specific details still uncertain. The land that the Hotel was placed on was purchased from the Ursulines nuns. Initially owned by Jean Baptiste Poeyfarre, the building was later sold to Octave Voorheis by Poeyfarre's wife after Jean's death. The building was then lost by Voorheis in 1872, during the depression of the Civil War. The next twenty years included two families who owned the property until it was purchased in 1902 by Pasquale Taromina, who held it until 1946.
It was owned by several owners throughout the following years, no longer serving as a family dwelling. It was converted to housekeeping rooms, with many guests returning to this day to "reminisce on their student days living at the 'Old Town Villa.'" Warren Campo and his family purchased the building in 1981, renovating it into the hotel as it stands today. The Campo family has ran and operated the Hotel Villa Convento for the last 29 years.
