Inn on the Creek

In Jackson Hole, Wyoming, close to Yellowstone National Park, there is a quiet little inn called Inn on the Creek that has a total of 11 rooms available to the public. True to its name, Inn on the Creek is positioned along the banks of Flat Creek. Though only four blocks from the center of town, the staff at Inn on the Creek pride themselves on creating a private, memorable, and welcoming experience. The inn is open year-round and though the busy season for Inn on the Creek is in the summer, guests can enjoy winter activities nearby, such as skiing and snowboarding at local ski resorts.

About

Inn on the Creek is a farmhouse-style building near the center of town. Though it is near the Jackson Hole Town Square, there is still an element of privacy and separation from the usual hustle and bustle of Jackson Hole. While staying at Inn on the Creek, guests can enjoy the convenience of being close to the shops and tourist attractions of Jackson Hole and still have the "weekend getaway" feeling. Behind the inn there is a back lawn with 300 feet of creekfront, lounging chairs for lazy afternoons, and a gazebo just big enough for a romantic date for two. The property also has a shared deck, a book and DVD library, and views of the surrounding nature.

Each room comes with homemade breakfast every morning, complimentary cookies of all varieties in the afternoon, and wine and cheese in the evening. Individual rooms also have views of the creek, private balconies, and jacuzzi bathtubs with a fireplace. Each morning's breakfast is brought to each room and consists of a signature hot dish, a baked good, bacon or sausage, and freshly squeezed orange juice. It is also served with sides like homemade granola, yogurt, or fruit. The owners of the inn, Casey and Amy, are happy to accommodate guests with dietary restrictions, especially when given notice in advance.

Generally, what attracts guests to Jackson Hole, Wyoming, is the outdoor activities. In the summer, guests can enjoy visiting Yellowstone National Park, which is about an hour and a half away from Jackson Hole, Grand Teton National Park—about five minutes away from Jackson Hole, and a night on the Town Square, four blocks away from the inn. In the winter, many guests come from all over to experience the snow. Famous for its powder snow, Jackson Hole Mountain Resort is a hot spot for skiers and snowboarders alike.

Culture

Casey and Amy, the owners of Inn on the Creek, strive to help their guests have a "home away from home" experience. Because Inn on the Creek is open year round, with the exception of two weeks in November and two weeks in April where the inn is closed for maintenance, Amy, Casey, and the other staff members are experienced in helping guests have a personalized experience. They are proficient in helping guests find activities and restaurants suited for the type of vacation they are looking for. Staff at Inn on the Creek enjoy making it a family friendly environment. Hailey, Amy and Casey's daughter, said she likes to make guests feel like part of the family.

One guest said, "We loved the delicious, homemade breakfast served every morning and relaxing out by the creek in the evening where we were served wine and appetizers during happy hour was a perfect place to unwind after our busy day... It was almost like coming home." Another guest commented, "The rooms are extra clean and large with comfortable beds and pillows. The staff is very professional and efficient providing an excellent level of service." Many guests enjoy staying at the Inn on the Creek because the guests feel like they are being welcomed home even though they are not at home.

Wyoming is the first state that let women have the right to vote. Consequently, Jackson Hole is known for being the first town to elect all-women city government, including the mayor and the town council. In addition to politics, Jackson Hole is known for mild summers for tourists to enjoy outdoor activities. The mild climate in the summer attracts many from around the country.

History

Though Casey and Amy have owned the inn for ten years, they have had much more experience in the lodging business. Together, Casey and Amy have more than 20 years of experience running hotels and bed & breakfasts in places such as Switzerland, Vermont, Massachusetts, Idaho, and now Wyoming. Ten years in Jackson Hole have made them locals, so they know all of the places tourists generally enjoy.

Before Casey and Amy bought it, the inn had a long history of lodging people. Before it was converted to an inn in the early '90s, the inn was home to a place where cowboys could come to stay. Then in the early '90s, the Eastman Family bought the building and turned it into an inn. After the Eastman family had it, Utah Senator Bob Bennett's real estate investment group owned it for a short time. Bob Bennett then sold it to Casey and Amy, who have kept it family-owned and operated since day one. Their family enjoys meeting all of the guests that pass through and sharing their love of Jackson Hole with them.
