Journey Inn is placed on 66 acres of land and is surrounded by hills and trees. Located within the forest, Journey Inn can provide an eco-retreat feel to its consumers. Inside the building, three rooms can be found, each themed differently than the other. The themes of each room at the Journey Inn resemble an element, namely water, air, and fire, with the earth room being turned into a gift shop. The decor in each room best illustrates the element associated with its name. The Water Room, located on the first floor, provides guests with shades of blue and green in the decor, which help to resemble the ocean. The room also has a clawfoot tub and a hand-held shower. Other room amenities in the Water Room include a queen latex bed, a sofa sleeper couch, and a private patio for the guests. The Air Room, located on the second floor, is decorated in light grays and whites to match the air element, coming with a private bath that includes both a rain shower and a hand-held shower. A queen latex bed can be found in the room, going along with its writer's desk and futon couch. Similar to the Water Room, a private patio can be found attached to the Air Room, with a patio table and chairs provided. Finally, the Fire Room—located on the second floor—provides shades of red that best resemble the element of fire. A private bath with an adjustable shower is located in the room, with a hand-made tile mural located in the area. A queen bed and a sofa sleeper couch are found in the room as well, along with a private patio that includes tables and chairs.
The property has a gift shop, formerly the Earth Room, that sells various items, including books, body care products, and locally-made jewelry and pottery. A cottage is also located on the property, which provides a full kitchen, a casual dining area, a living room, two bathrooms, and two bedrooms containing queen-sized beds. A small library and a futon are located in the cottage's living room, providing reading material and sleeping arrangements for additional guests. As mentioned by part-owner Charlene Torchia, Journey Inn provides spas, yoga, massage, and energy therapy for guests. Charlene stated that their services are "what makes them unique" compared to other lodging businesses.
Journey Inn strives for a culture of relaxation by providing multiple therapy services such as massage and energy therapy. Guest reviews mention the "rejuvenating" experience they receive from staying at the property through the "quality services provided by the owners" and the "quiet atmosphere each room and cottage provide for the guests." Charlene Torchia, a part-owner, called Journey Inn a "place to take a much-needed break from your day-to-day lifestyle." The staff strives to implement this idea by providing quality massage and spa features as well as Japanese soaking tubs that are provided in each room that guests can stay in. Additionally, a breakfast buffet is available to all visitors who are staying in the inns. Some of the breakfast options that can be found in the buffet include homemade granola and bread, yogurt, fruit, hardboiled eggs, coffee, and tea. This breakfast buffet is not available to those who are staying in the cottages.

Journey Inn has been in the lodging industry for fourteen years, dating back to 2004 when John Huffaker and Charlene Torchia purchased the property. Having a background in retreats, John and Charlene initially sought to develop a retreat experience that they owned, but through involvement in the bed and breakfast industry, they soon discovered their passion for the lodging industry. For several years, John and Charlene researched natural buildings, feng shui, and non-toxic materials in an attempt to find a property that presented an eco-friendly environment for them to build their inn around. In 2003, the acreage that holds Journey Inn was discovered by the couple in the Lake Pepin community and was soon purchased by them. Throughout the next three years, John Huffaker and Charlene Torchia worked in close proximity with the town, county, and state officials on the zoning and building issues. Upon finding the necessary designers and builders, Journey Inn was built and established in July of 2006. It has been run by the couple ever since.
