Lindley House Garden Cottages is part of Duncan Oklahoma. The property resides in Stephens County. With the dwelling found surrounded by historic, Native American terrain, Lindley House Garden Cottages gives the visitor a through-back experience.
Lindley House Garden Cottages covers two-acres of land, with seven total rooms three of which are cottages themselves and four of which reside in a historic coulomb of the main house. The property is surrounded by shrubbery. Four of the rooms have a two person jacuzzi and walk-in showers. Themes of these rooms range from an elegant to a rustic feel in décor. All of unit amenities have a fridge stocked with free water and pop, along with the free gourmet breakfast delivered. The items that are sold on the property include tea lights, robes, sheets, and homemade banana-nut bread. Owners, Cecil & Debby have run the property for over 12 years and are the 4th proprietors to assume the estate. Along with paticular compliments about the food, guests often give high remarks about their hosts’ accommodative hospitality as being the most noted aspect about their visit as manifest in the following TripAdvisor review: “By far the best part is the hospitality - Cecil is like no other host you've ever seen. His custom breakfasts alone are worth the stay! He makes sure every need is met, and just couldn't be more friendly and accommodating”. Duncan—the city Lindley House Garden Cottages resides in—is found near the Chisholm Trail Heritage Center, which is a popular museum. Visitors also seek outings at the nearby Wichita Mountain Wildlife Refuge. In the restored downtown area of Duncan, there are a variety of Historic Boutique Shops selling antiques and other wares. The area is also distinguished and known for the founding of the Haliburton Cooperation.
According to Cecil, the owner, the culture of Lindley House Garden Cottages is “relaxed”. One room, “Trails End”, reflects a western theme like the town’s history regarding the Chisholm Trail. Apart from this room, the other rooms have a simple modern lodging décor. The town atmosphere shows a mix of Native American back-drop and oil-driven industry.
The Lindley House estate was built in 1939 by Dr. E.C. and Helen Lindley. The current owners are Cecil & Debby Brewer. Lindley House Garden Cottages, on the estate, has been in operation as a bed and breakfast for 23 years. Purchasing the property was envisioned by current owner, Cecil Brewer, as he relates his inspiration: “I didn’t like my previous job, I wanted to change to something that I enjoyed more”.
