Maui Home Lahaina is located in Lahaina, Hawaii. The house can be reserved in two ways: either guests can rent the bottom floor as a one-bedroom, one-bath, which gives them access to all amenities on that floor and outside of the home, or they can reserve it as a two-bedroom, two-bath, with the same access in addition to the top floor. Two bedrooms are available at Maui Home Lahaina, one on the top floor and one on the bottom floor. A saltwater pool and a hot tub are open to patrons in the backyard, and a patio and outdoor shower are also available. The property is located near Baby Beach, which, according to the manager of the business, is one of the main draws to the area. The town of Lahaina is also something that brings visitors to the home because of its proximity to the town.
The manager of Maui Home Lahaina says that the building is in the "luxury vacation stay" category of the hospitality industry. She says this because of the amenities that are offered and because patrons rent the entire home when they stay. Guests can utilize two bedrooms; either a visitor can book the only room on the bottom floor—therefore closing the other room (and the top floor) and leaving the bottom floor and the backyard open to only them—or they rent the building as a whole. Each of the two bedrooms has a king-size bed and a private bathroom. The house has a full gourmet kitchen, a TV room, and a separate den with a desk for those who would like to do some work while staying at the inn. Something unique about the property is that central air conditioning is available, which the manager states isn't very common on the island. Laundry facilities and beach supplies are also provided for those staying at Maui Home Lahaina for no additional fee.
The saltwater pool, jacuzzi, outdoor shower, barbeque area, and patio take up the grounds of the backyard. Palm trees surround the yard, which the manager hopes will create a tropical feeling for those that spend time outside. The manager says that the property is right around the corner—just five houses away—from Baby Beach. Beach coolers and beach towels are provided by the business for those that are heading to the ocean. There are no additional "resort" fees, and parking and internet are free.
The manager of Maui Home Lahaina wants guests to feel like they are at a second home when they stay at their business. She strives to provide everything that a visitor may need in the hopes that everything is taken care of. The manager resides in a separate area of the home, which has its own entrance, providing guests with the opportunity, if needed, to ask questions or take care of situations that may arise during their stay. Guests may not even run into the manager during their stay. The manager can also be reached through a phone call to address any needs or concerns. Otherwise, those staying at the property are given all of the information about the home that they might need in order to be taken care of, regardless of whether or not they need the manager.
The property manager says that the most unique aspect of Maui Home Lahaina is its proximity to downtown Lahaina. She says that guests get "more bang for [their] buck" while staying at their business due to its relatively close access to both the town and the beach. As pointed out by the manager, some of the area's notable attractions are Baby Beach, Old Lahaina Luau, Lahaina district, and a nearby boat harbor. Many events are held in town, and for those visiting the harbor, snorkeling and scuba diving are some common activities that can be had there. Some places in the area that the manager points out for dining are Cool Cat Cafe, Kimo's Maui, and Cheeseburger in Paradise.
Maui Home Lahaina is open all year round with a busy season of January, February, and March. It is reported that many people from Canada and other colder places often come during these months so that they might be able to spend some time in the sun rather than in the comparatively colder weather. She also mentions that most of her visitors are younger couples, many of whom are repeat guests. She reports that many people that have stayed at Maui Home Lahaina have enjoyed the cleanliness of the property. She also notes that pets are not allowed at the home, and that smoking is only permitted outside of the building. The last notable policy of the business is that quiet hours are between 9 p.m. and 9 a.m.
The house for Maui Home Lahaina was built in 1989, and the first permit for the current business was issued in 2009; these permits are required to have an annual renewal. The property was run as a bed and breakfast for years, but due to recent events, changes were made to the business to give guests more privacy. The manager currently lives on the property and is there for guests that need her, but otherwise, she tries to let those that stay at the Maui Home Lahaina feel like they have the entire house to themselves.
