Sun N Fun Beachfront Vacation Rentals

Sun N Fun Beachfront Vacation Rentals

Sun N Fun has been a family-owned business since 1966, currently managed and operated by Curtis Westphal. The beach house rentals themselves date back to circa 1923, when they were first constructed and utilized by F.D. Jackson. Curtis considers the property to be a destination for those seeking to travel away from colder climatic conditions, as the inn neighbors the beach. As such, the owner aims to create a relaxing atmosphere at the establishment by providing a range of amenities in addition to the space for leisurely activities, more specifically outside the beach houses, where guests can view the landscape in the on-site gazebo. The more urban parts of the encompassing town also offer a variety of attractions and restaurants for visitors to tour, including historic sites, museums, and natural areas. Curtis mentions that shopping tends to be a relatively popular pastime in Indian Shores.

About

As the name would imply, Sun N Fun Beachfront Vacation Rentals occupies a property along the beaches of Indian Shores, Florida. Six apartment accommodations are split between two buildings on the premises, the smaller of which contains two units while the larger houses have four. The owner of the business, Curtis Westphal, characterizes the rooms as unique, explaining that each is styled in a Key West theme with "a laidback, beachy look" parallel to the business' location. While the units exhibit a similar stylistic theme, a different arrangement of amenities is supplied in each room. Regardless of which accommodation is reserved, however, occupants are given access to a private ensuite bathroom and a full kitchen. Based on his observations, Curtis notes that Unit #4 tends to be the most popular out of all of the suites on account of its views of the beach. Couples take particular interest in Unit #4, according to Curtis, as he mentions that it has a "romantic feel." This accommodation is a one-bedroom space on the second floor of the main house.

Beyond the vacation rentals, visitors can explore the beachfront setting of the business. A gazebo, a picnic table, and lounge chairs are available on-site for those who are hoping for a more leisurely experience at Sun N Fun Beachfront Vacation Rentals. Curtis remarks that a number of guests in the past have enjoyed utilizing the gazebo to sit and watch the sunsets in the evenings. Across the street from Sun N Fun is a boat rental business for patrons who are hoping to visit the beach during their travels. Curtis also says that paddleboards can be rented nearby, and opportunities for fishing are available around Indian Shores. In a further effort to encourage and facilitate beach visitations, Curtis also provides beach toys, towels, and other similar items that guests may find useful. Notably, the owner says that the white sand beach adjacent to the property is "among the top 10 in the United States." In addition to finding enjoyment on the seaside, visitors can explore some of the dining options that are found within the town. Curtis recommends Caddy's, Crabby Bill's, and Tropical Ice Cream, the latter of which he says offers 141 flavors of ice cream.

Culture

Sun N Fun Beachfront Vacation Rentals operates year-round for travelers to make reservations. The busiest season of operation most commonly occurs in February and March, during which the property tends to receive a considerable number of snowbirds and people who are on spring break. However, throughout the year, the demographic generally consists of couples and seniors who are, as the owner puts it, "looking to get out of the snow." Roughly 12% of patrons are repeat guests.

Curtis, the owner, hopes that everyone will enjoy their stay at Sun N Fun, and he has the goal of creating a relaxed atmosphere for his visitors. He believes that both the amenities of the rooms and the beachfront location can contribute to this experience. One former patron who previously visited the establishment commented on these two elements in a review of their experience, as they remarked, "There were plenty of beach chairs, towels, etc. Great restaurants nearby, [and] we didn't do much cooking in the unit. [The] staff was friendly, and the room was clean." Moreover, Curtis makes an effort to interact with guests periodically over the course of their stay, with the intent to provide quality hospitality to his visitors.

Patrons should be aware that 4:00 p.m. is the designated time for check-in, and check-out is at 10:00 a.m. Furthermore, a full refund can be given to those who cancel their reservation at least 40 days in advance. Sun N Fun also enforces a one-vehicle-per-unit policy for each guest due to the property's limited parking. It should be noted as well that a prohibition is enforced on pets and smoking. Finally, cleaning fees for the rooms total between the range of $45.00 and $100.00 depending on the size of the accommodation.

History

Curtis Westphal, the current owner of Sun N Fun Beachfront Vacation Rentals, takes pride in the historical significance of the establishment, as the buildings date back nearly 100 years. The homes were originally under the ownership of F.D. Jackson, a reportedly prominent figure of Florida, according to Curtis. He explains that Jackson was known for selling chicken feed, and he gained wealth from this occupation. What is presently known as the vacation rentals of Sun N Fun originally served as beach houses for Jackson as a getaway from the extreme weather conditions of the city where he resided. Initially named Sun N Fun Motel Apartment, the property transitioned ownership to Curtis' grandparents, who purchased it for $28,000 in 1966. Curtis lived with his grandparents on the beach while his dad served as a fighter pilot. During his residence at the establishment, he took an interest in the hospitality industry, leading him to buy the business from his grandparents and operate it as an inn. The buildings underwent a few changes during Curtis' ownership, the majority of which pertained to modernizing the structures. As such, Curtis describes the general character of the property as "old Florida with modern updates."
