Abbé House Inn is located in the eastern part of Heber Springs, Arkansas, near the Little Red River. It is a few miles from Greers Ferry Lake. Other attractions include nearby fishing areas and hiking or climbing locations at Sugar Loaf Mountain, Collins Creek, Magness Lake, and Bridal Veil Falls. Heber Springs has a few places for antiquing as well. The bed and breakfast was built in 1999, and Debbie, one of its owners, says that she and her husband Dan have tried to maintain the original style of the interior throughout its renovation process. Abbé House Inn also has a wedding venue and eight acres of outdoor space to host large groups of people. The business has hosted birthday parties, luncheons, and family reunions in the past as well.
Abbé House Inn is in Heber Springs, Arkansas, near the easternmost part of the town. It is across the street from Little Red River, although Debbie, one of its owners, says the river cannot be seen from the property as the land is eight acres in size. Much of the surrounding area consists of other houses and fields. Betty Brown Lake is slightly northwest of Abbé House Inn. The establishment itself is dotted with trees and is covered by grass. Debbie remarks that there are many opportunities for visitors to see wildlife on-site, especially birds. The main house is three stories tall, with two of them taken up by the guestrooms.
Ten rooms are available for guests to rent. Debbie notes that "they are similar, but there is some uniqueness to them too." This refers to the fact that, while similarly decorated, the rooms have distinct colors and names. For example, the Blue Room and Jade Room are named after the primary colors of their décor and bedspreads. The Yellow Rose Room and Burgundy Rooms are named the same way. All units have private bathrooms with showers or jetted soaking tubs. They also come with a TV, Wi-Fi, chairs, shampoo, soap, and towels. Additionally, the Jade Room and Blue Room have private entrances as well as access to the back patio. Debbie explains that the Magnolias Room is a popular unit due to its couch and accommodation for couples. She says the Angler's Retreat is also a commonly rented room because of its size, being able to accommodate more guests than the other rooms. Debbie further comments that the rooms are intended to have a "homey" feeling with a "1999 taste."
Apart from the guestroom, patrons may access a cinema room with a projector and DVDs. There is a downstairs living room where people can sit and socialize with each other. Abbé House Inn also has a dining area where meals are served, and people can play games or build puzzles. Debbie adds that visitors commonly use the back patio and front porch. Games can be found throughout most of these common areas. Regarding out-of-unit amenities, Debbie notes that visitors can use the outside area, a gas grill, a charcoal barbecue for picnics, and books found throughout the house. Abbé House Inn also has a refrigerator, an ice machine, a coffee pot, and a microwave.
Breakfast typically consists of eggs, bacon, toast, omelets, and French toast. Debbie explains that she may also prepare biscuits and gravy or quiche for larger groups of people. Breakfast usually begins at 8:00 AM on a first-come-first-serve basis, although it can be adjusted for people who need to eat earlier or later. Accommodations for dietary restrictions or food allergies are taken into account as well, and Debbie does what she can to incorporate said adjustments into breakfast.
Abbé House Inn is within driving distance of several attractions. Guests can visit Sugar Loaf Mountain to hike or rock climb. They may also visit Collins Creek or Bridal Veil Falls. There are several places to go fishing, and they can also visit nearby lakes. Debbie says Heber Springs has a few locations for antiquing, and her guests often visit Magness Lake to see the trumpeter swans in the fall. Regarding places to eat, she recommends her visitors try Red Rooster Bake House for a pastry or lunch, Mack's Fish House for steak and seafood, and Arrow's Café and BBQ.
Abbé House Inn has hosted several weddings before. Debbie, one of the property owners, says they have additionally hosted family reunions, bridal showers, a few birthday showers, and occasional luncheons for large groups of people. She notes that the inn can host 50 to 100 people for such outdoor activities on the grounds or the patio. Debbie also mentions that a few murder mysteries have been done at Abbé House Inn in affiliation with the local high school and its theater department.
Debbie wants her guests to "feel like family and like they're at home." She and her husband Dan try to get to know their visitors and "make sure they are well taken care of." They try to do what they can to accommodate breakfast and any services their guests may need. Because of this, many visitors have left positive reviews about the business. One person said, "This family-owned bed and breakfast was the perfect getaway for our anniversary. The owners were very accommodating, the room was spacious and comfortable, and the bed was perfect. The area is beautiful and we really enjoyed out stay." Another guest commented, "The room was very clean, the bed was comfortable and the overall setting was very quiet and peaceful. We really enjoyed our time visiting with the owners, who were very nice people." Because of such visitor reviews, Debbie believes the most unique aspects of her property are its hospitality and also it's breakfasts.
Abbé House Inn's most important policies are its pet-friendly status and its prohibition of indoor smoking. She says the inn has received children in the past but remarks that she does not consider her property a "family spot" for visitors. The inn is open year-round with its busiest season is during the summer. Debbie says guests are usually attracted to the fishing areas, hiking, and Greer Ferry Lake. She also remarks that many people are in the area to visit family or attend weddings and family reunions.
Abbé House Inn was built in 1999 and has functioned as a bed and breakfast for its lifetime. Debbie and Dan Brewer, the current property owners, have been in business since 2020. They came across the house while their daughter was in school. When she was married, they chose the Abbé House Inn venue for her wedding, and Debbie and Dan decided they loved the place. Debbie says her favorite part of her job is meeting the guests. She enjoys hearing their stories and learning where they are from, remarking that "it's always a pleasure to meet new people."
Since owning Abbé House Inn, Debbie and Dan have updated the rooms to maintain their "1999 flavor" and have tried to keep the "southern laid-back feel to the place." They plan to upgrade the cinema room, add some features to the wedding venue, and install a separate game room to the house in the future.
