The Beach Rose Inn

The Beach Rose Inn is located in Wells, Maine, one mile away from Wells Beach. The inn provides a total of 15 suite rents and four condos, with the condos being located about 75 yards from the beach itself. The Beach Rose Inn receives its name due to the unique species of roses that can be found on the property that only grow on the edges of beaches and in sand dunes. The property had been built in the late 1800s and had been used in the past as an old warding house and potter studio.

The Beach Rose Inn, located on 1.2 acres of land, offers 15 different suites for their guests to choose from. These rooms, varying in decor and design, are located on two different floors of the lodge. The first floor contains the Blue Suite, Woodland Suite, Aubergine Suite, Nautical Suite, Red Suite, Cottage Rose Suite, and the Studio Apartment. These various rooms differ with either queen beds, a double bed, or two double beds, providing sleeping arrangements for the guests. With the Beach Rose Inn providing only complimentary coffee and tea in the morning, an in-room refrigerator is placed for guests to utilize as food storage space. An HDTV with complimentary WiFi is conveniently placed in each of the rooms, along with individual climate controls.

Some unique features are found in the Cottage Rose Suite, including a pullout sleeper sofa and wheelchair access for the room. The Studio Apartment differs from the other rooms on the first floor, as it is designed for an extended stay. A full kitchen is attached to the Studio Apartment, as well as a seating area.

The second floor of the Beach Rose Inn contains the Goldenrod Suite, Periwinkle Suite, Magnolia Suite, Yellow Rose Suite, Sandpiper Suite, Dunes Suite, Seaglass Suite, and the Tidal Suite. These rooms vary in king and queen-sized beds, with similar amenities as the first-floor suites. Direct access to the balcony is only accessible with the first room floors.

Four condos are also owned by the property, located 75 yards from Wells Beach, which is seen as a "popular tourist activity," as stated by the Kocek family, who own and operate the inn. In the Captain's Quarters at Wells Beach Condo, a fully equipped kitchen is located. The condo can sleep up to four guests with its queen-sized bed and sleeper sofa. A secondary bistro is situated outside the kitchen for additional seating. The Coral Cove at Wells Beach Condo offers similar features but is located five miles away from Kennebunkport and Ogunquit. The last two condos, the Blueberry Patch at Wells Beach Condo and The Sea Breeze at Wells Beach Condo, provide similar lodging as the other condos on the property. Wells, Maine, where the Beach Rose Inn is located, is the third oldest town in the state of Maine. It inhabits Wells Beach, a popular summer destination.

Homeliness is the environment that the Beach Rose Inn strives to give off. The intent is that the guests "feel as if they are not staying in a hotel, but a home," as stated by the Kocek family. The Kocek family also mentions their desire to "establish a personal relationship. With us being located in Wells, Maine, we are such a small community that we can truly develop a personal relationship with our guests and make them feel comforted during their stay with us."

Guests who have stayed at the property mention in their reviews the cleanliness of the inn, stating it is "cleaner than most 4-star hotels I have stayed at," as mentioned in a review. The pricing in comparison to the cleanliness is also addressed, specifically stating that the "cleanliness is not sacrificed with the low prices. They offer low prices and cleanliness, which is very pleasing." Radek and Shelly Kocek, who own and operate the Beach Rose Inn with their family, are mentioned as "accommodating owners, who are willing to work with anyone's schedule, making check-in seamless and easy."

One thing mentioned by both the guests and the Kocek family as something that makes the Beach Rose Inn "stand out" is the beach roses that line the property. A beach rose is a species of roses native to eastern Asia, known for growing on beach coasts and sand dunes. Having its name originate after these flowers, the Beach Rose Inn maintains the roses that are surrounding the various spots of the property.

The Beach Rose Inn has been operated and owned by Radek and Shelly Kocek for the last five years since they took over the inn in 2015. Several owners have owned the property; however, the way the Beach Rose Inn is designed and operated started with the Kocek family. The property was originally built in the 1800s and has served as various things, including a potter studio. The Kocek family lived in the Wells area when the property came for sale and wanted to purchase the inn for the sake of wanting to get into the hospitality industry. As stated by the Kocek family's son, they had a desire to "get to know people and offer them a good experience in the town that we have grown to love ourselves."
