History

John Lavery was the original owner of the property and the Victorian-style house. John purchased the property in 1892 and moved in one year later with his family. The house has served a variety of different purposes throughout the years. At one time, the house was used for professional offices. Bill and Nancy were looking for a house that they could turn into a bed and breakfast. They found the house in 2014 and started from there. In March of 2015, they started making the changes necessary to create the bed and breakfast that they wanted. Bill and Nancy loved the elegant feel of the house, and wanted to keep that elegance, as well as make it homey. Before owning The Bell House, Bill and Nancy were innkeepers in Altamont, New York for 12 years before moving to Glen Falls in 2014.

The couple feel that they are very seasoned innkeepers. Bill says that they started because Nancy used to watch the Newhart series and wanted to be an innkeeper ever since. Bill and Nancy live on site and provide guests with whatever needs they may have. They are also very willing to help guests know what there is to do in the area, good restaurants, and other information that guests may be interested in knowing about the area. Bill and Nancy love the people that come and stay at their house and hope that guests can feel comfortable during their stay.
