Some snacks, coffee, and tea are all available on the house at all times. The Burford House Inn is open year round with a increase of guests from June to August.

The Burford House Inn has five rooms. The property the house lies on is a small urban lot in the heart of the city. The house is three stories with rooms on every floor, one of which is handicap accessible. The King Suite Loft is the most popular, and the owner Mark McCallum's personal favorite. This large studio apartment-sized suite has two twin beds and a king-sized bed. The suite also includes a minibar, shower, bathtub, television, air conditioning, refrigerator, fireplace, sofa, soundproof walls and floor, hardwood floors, a closet, extra linens, and a smaller sitting area.

The King Suite Loft is located in the attic of the Burford House Inn. The walls are covered in stain glass mirrors and other art. The smallest of the five rooms is the King Room. This room has a maximum of two guests. Here there is a king bed, a minibar with a refrigerator, a television, a coffee machine, a clothing rack, and outlets near the bed. The King Suite is a double room suite with a vanity, city views, linens, a television, and more. The Deluxe King Suite has a large living area with a small library, views of the large city park just beyond the inn, and all the other amenities included with each room. The Ground Level King Suite is handicap accessible with art-covered walls, lots of natural light, a large bathroom, minimal décor, and a seating area.

The owner Mark McCallum serves a full breakfast to guests each morning at an extra cost. Coffee and tea are available on the house at all times. Free private parking is general onsite along with daily housekeeping, a large lounge, a copy machine, and a laundry room. Wireless internet is also available to visitors free of charge. The inn is located just minutes walk away from the University of Iowa, along with an extensive library, a playground, and the inn's private garden. Because of the inn's proximity to the University, student housing is available in select rooms at The Burford House Inn. The suite is open year-round, however, the highest moments of occupancy in the inn range from June to August.

"Comfortable, quiet, and relaxing" are the words that the owner and general manager, Mark McCallum, uses to describe his property's atmosphere. The inn is designed with the goal of being family-friendly. With easily accessible rooms, the visitors stay in their rooms all day, or come and go as they please with little reaction with other visitors. Burford House is located right next to a large city park. Here guests can read, go on walks, visit the playground, or play in the grassy commons. Guests leave generally positive reviews regarding the easy check-in process, exciting décor, large clean rooms, and convenient location. Mark has made it of the highest priority to keep the inn alive with original architecture, bright décor, and modern amenities.

History

Byron Burford previously owned the Burford House Inn. Burford was an artist who studied under Grant Wood. His artwork remains in the inn to this day. McCallum purchased the property in 2013 and renovated it to better cater to guests' needs in 2014. He had previously been a listing agent and worked in the hotel industry. McCallum saw the opportunity of opening the Burford House Inn and purchased the property. He enjoys bringing visitors into this area of town and showing them the more historical part of Iowa City.
