The Dubach Inn is a bed and breakfast located in Hannibal, Missouri. Originally owned by David Dubach, the property has a history that spans over a century. It remained in the Dubach family for 106 years before being passed on to subsequent owners. The current owners, Kristine and Steve Russell, acquired the property in late 2007 and converted it into a bed and breakfast. Since then, they have strived to create a warm and inviting atmosphere where guests can feel at ease. Kristine and Steve aim to provide a "home away from home" experience for their guests. The inn is open year-round, with the busiest season most commonly occurring from May to October when the weather is fairly moderate. While the majority of guests are couples, families and groups of friends also visit the property.
The Dubach Inn is a Victorian-style property located in Hannibal, Missouri. The inn offers three suites, each providing a private bath, sitting area, heating, and air conditioning. One of the suites is a two-bedroom accommodation, while the other two are one-bedroom suites. Additional amenities provided in the suites include fridges, microwaves, and a television with a DVD player. Some accommodations have additional features, such as private outdoor spaces and entrances. It should also be noted that the first-floor suite is ADA-compatible with no steps, according to Kristine, one of the owners.
Guests can enjoy a hot breakfast served between 8:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. A variety of meals have been served at the property, such as baked french toast, crepes, pastries, and other similar items. The inn can accommodate dietary restrictions such as gluten-free or vegetarian with advance notice. Additionally, a coffee service is available to patrons of the bed and breakfast each morning.
Outside the property, guests can relax on the front porch or private decks and view the surrounding area. The building that houses the bed and breakfast is a Victorian-style brick home that was originally built in the late 1800s. The Dubach Inn is situated on a corner lot in a residential area, three blocks away from Main Street, where visitors can find shopping and dining options.
The owners of the Dubach Inn aim to provide a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere for their guests, hoping that it can feel like it's a “home away from home,” according to Kristine. "We try to put our guests at ease and provide a relaxing atmosphere, allowing them to unwind and enjoy their stay,” she says. The innkeepers strive to ensure that guests have everything that they may need during their stay, including various in-room amenities. Those who have stayed previously at the establishment often comment on the ambiance of the property, as well as the hospitality of the owners. One former patron said, “Our suite was comfortable, quiet, clean, and beautiful. The breakfasts were delicious, and it was really great visiting with Kristine and Steve, as well as meeting the other guests. Kristine and Steve were also very knowledgeable and helpful with restaurant recommendations as well as helping us find local attractions.” Kristine said that what sets the business apart is the environment they create for their guests, as well as the food served on-site. "What makes our property unique is that we are known for serving really great breakfasts and creating a friendly environment for our guests," she says.

The Dubach Inn has a set of policies in place to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable experience for all guests. One of the key policies is the restriction on pets, as the inn does not allow guests to bring their own pets. However, the owners themselves have two cats on the premises, which are kept separate from the guest areas. In the hopes of providing a peaceful environment, the Dubach Inn observes quiet hours from 10:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. Additionally, the inn has a strict no-smoking policy indoors, aligning with legal regulations and maintaining a smoke-free environment for all guests. Furthermore, the Dubach Inn has a check-in time limitation, as late-night check-ins may not always be possible. The owners are open to addressing late check-in requests on a case-by-case basis.
The Dubach Inn has a history that spans over a century. Built in the late 1800s, the property was originally owned by David Dubach and his family who had ties to the timber industry—a prominent sector in the region. The house remained in the Dubach family for 106 years. In 1970, the property was inherited by Marian Fetty, David Dubach's granddaughter. Marian, a teacher in Hannibal, resided in the house until her passing. She taught languages at the local high school, leaving a lasting impact on her students. Today, one of the suites is named after her, the Fetty Suite. In 2007, Kristine and Steve Russell fulfilled their dream of owning a bed and breakfast by purchasing the Dubach Inn. They restored and renovated the property after moving from Washington to Missouri to start the business. Kristine reports that the couple's favorite part of running the business is being able to meet visitors from across the world, with guests staying at the bed and breakfast from 30 different countries, as well as from across the United States.
