Victoria, the owner of Windermere Suites, remarks that most of the guests of the property are couples who use their suite as a "home base," for their travels around the Lake District. She says that many of her patrons are honeymooners or other couples visiting for special occasions such as anniversaries or birthdays. For those staying at the property, Victoria and the staff of the establishment strive to give guests the "best possible stay." Hoping to create this atmosphere, they provide breakfast in each guest's private room, as well as by interacting with patrons as they are coming or going from the property. Those who have previously visited the Windermere Suites often comment on the proximity to destinations within the village as well as the train station, the breakfast, and the décor of the suites. One past guest said, "We had the Ambleside suite with its own private car park space, own private patio and the room was immaculate. The bathroom with the jacuzzi bath was a nice touch. Breakfast was served through a hatch and was great." Another visitor said, "The staff was lovely, the room was clean and romantic, and in walking distance to the docks where one can get boats and ferries to enjoy the lakes. The breakfast was huge and it was such a treat having it delivered to our room every morning."
Windermere Suites is open year-round, excluding Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, so that the staff can spend time with their families during the holiday. Victoria remarks that the busiest time of year for the establishment is the summer months, as patrons are traveling more. There are a variety of local attractions that guests can take part in, as the business is located in the Lake District. Boating, water sports, and hiking are all possible during different seasons of the year. Victoria says that three restaurants she would recommend to guests include a seafood restaurant named Francine's, an Italian eatery named San Pietro Windermere Restaurant, and the Porto Restaurant.
Purchased in 2008, Windermere Suites opened for business the following year, in 2009. Before the property became the establishment that it is known as today, the building was vacant. Originally built for travelers to Windermere and the Lake District, the home was built near the railway for ease of access to both the village and transportation. To get the building ready for patrons, Victoria reports that there were many renovations done, extending and refurbishing the entire house. "It is a completely different building," she says, referring to the updates that were done. In the future, Victoria hopes to be able to "maintain the quality and consistency," of the establishment's décor and furnishings.
Victoria has worked in the hospitality industry in different facets since 2000. Working with various properties in the surrounding area, she decided to purchase and open Windermere Suites in 2008 and renovate it. She says that her favorite part of the work she does is getting to know the people that stay at the establishment and learning about them.
