Originally, the couple that built the building were actors on Broadway, but after having listened to Latter-day Saint missionaries decided to join the church and moved west to Utah, where many of the members of the congregation lived. They then were asked by the church to help settle the area of Manti and moved their family down to central Utah, which at the time was a mostly uninhabited desert. They helped build the community and played large roles in bringing theater, acting, and music to central and southern Utah. Most notably, they are known for having helped with the Manti Pageant.
The home itself was originally on the land of a fort constructed by the pioneers to protect themselves. The house is located at one of the corners of the fort, and some materials from the fort were used in its construction. The home has always been a bed and breakfast, being a place where those passing through the area could rest. After the late 1800s, it passed through several owners until 2015, when the property was bought by the owner Katelon. She closed down the inn for several years and made major renovations to the property, making certain aspects were more modern and bringing it up to standard in the industry. Katelon was the owner to bring the spa to the property. The inn was officially reopened in 2017 and has continued to host guests.
