The Rosedale Inn

The Rosedale Inn

The Rosedale Inn is located in Pacific Grove—a city situated on the coast of California. Visitors can choose to reserve one of nineteen units, which are divided among seven different buildings on the property. Each room comes equipped with a wet bar, kitchenette, and gas fireplace, and they all have private bathrooms with jetted tubs. The owners of the inn would like their guests to feel welcome in a homely environment. Erected over 50 years ago by the current owner's parents, the inn has no smoking rooms as well as a prohibition on pets in an effort to maintain the establishment's preservation. Due to the location of the business near the center of Pacific Grove, many places of note are within walking distance or a short drive away. A few significant attractions include The Links at Spanish Bay Golf Course, Asilomar State Beach, Point Pinos Lighthouse, Monterey Bay Aquarium, Pacific Grove Golf Link, and George Washington Park.

About

With 7 individual buildings comprising the premises, the Rosedale Inn can provide a unique stay, offering a total of 19 rooms. Each building contains a variety of room types, ranging from standard units to suites, and even one handicap-accessible room to accommodate the needs of guests who use a wheelchair or require other mobility aids.

The property itself is found in a natural setting, surrounded by trees, and is about a five-minute walk away from the oceanfront. While the rooms do not offer ocean views due to the variety of foliage between the coast and the business, the close proximity to the beach and the Pebble Beach Golf Courses is typically noted by patrons as a quality aspect of the inn.

Regarding the features of each accommodation, the rooms at The Rosedale Inn are equipped with kitchenettes that supply amenities such as a microwave, refrigerator, coffeemaker, and a wet bar. Additionally, all rooms come with a gas fireplace and a jetted tub in the bathroom, which can help visitors have a more relaxing stay. The suites include a separate living room and can provide extra space for guests.

An open deck is available on the property, where guests can spend time viewing the natural surroundings. The location of the inn can facilitate outdoor exploration, as visitors can find rental establishments that cater to activities such as biking and surfing. There are also various trails and paths that can be walked without requiring rental gear. While there are no on-site stores or additional common areas, the nearby downtown portion of the city, located a mile and a half away, offers an array of dining options, including a few of the innkeepers’ personal favorites, which are as follows: Toasties Cafe, Red House Cafe, Fishwife, and Victorian Corner.

Culture

The Rosedale Inn aims to provide guests with a warm and homely atmosphere during their stay. To achieve this, the inn tries to focus on creating a relaxed, natural, and casual ambiance. With the intent to enhance the feeling of being at home, the owners have made an effort to decorate the rooms in such a way that can help visitors feel comfortable and welcomed. Considering its emphasis on relaxation—as well as its proximity to attractions such as the Monterey Bay Aquarium and the Monarch Butterfly Sanctuary—the owners' goal is to provide an escape for a diverse range of guests seeking a break from their busy lives. Interaction between the staff and occupants is encouraged during check-in and checkout, however, the inn does not host events or activities on-site due to its relatively smaller size.

Important policies for visitors to be aware of include a no-smoking in the rooms and a no-pets policy. While there is no designated quiet time, guests are requested to be considerate of their neighbors, especially after 8:00 or 9:00 p.m. upon nightfall.

One of The Rosedale Inn's unique features is its location, situated amidst nature and further away from the more urban parts of the city. The inn can offer guests the experience of being surrounded by nature while enjoying modern amenities. There have been a number of patrons who have left reviews that detail their experience at the property. One person wrote, “We are thrilled with our room. We went with the king-bed suite and are definitely glad we did. There are two rooms, one with a couch, fireplace, TV, and kitchenette, and another with a king-size bed, TV, and bathroom. Lots of amenities and a quiet location.” The inn operates year-round, with the busiest season typically being summer on account of the events that are held in the area. The demographic of guests varies from families to couples, business travelers, and golf enthusiasts, among others. The Rosedale Inn is noted for having a high percentage of repeat patrons as well.

History

Dating back approximately 50 to 60 years, the Rosedale Inn was initially built by the current owners' parents and has remained within the same family ever since. The specific founding date is unknown, however, the current owners eventually took over the business when their parents retired.

According to the owners, the building has only ever been used as a place for people to reserve temporary stays. Over the years, the property has undergone renovations that primarily pertain to its modernization. However, the owners also make an effort to preserve the original designs of the building, focusing on updating the interior of the rooms while trying to maintain a natural and rustic exterior appearance. Currently, there are plans in the work for interior renovations, the owners try to be committed to keeping the property updated and at a higher standard in an effort to create a residence where visitors can have a positive experience.
